Hopefully we’ve captured the most common questions we get below. However, if your query isn’t there, please feel free to get in touch via e-mail, Instagram, Facebook or call us on 01752396371 and we’ll certainly endeavour to answer you as soon as possible.

Do you offer a free trial?

Here at Flo Martial Arts, we are happy to offer a one week free trial. The only thing we will ask in return is your candid feedback on your whole experience. Our aim is to improve our facility, joining experience and class structure to ensure our potential new members are getting all the info and attention they need to get started!

Can I visit the gym before becoming a member?

Flo Martial Arts is a private members club however we can (and recommend), by appointment, organise a visit for you where a coach or member of staff will meet you and discuss your goals and show you around.

We also recommend that you take the opportunity to speak to our existing members and find out why they choose to train with us.

I've never done any martial arts or boxing before, can I come along?

Absolutely! We are a facility that places a heavy emphasis on getting people started in what we believe is the best thing a person can have in their lives, Martial Arts and sport in general. So rest assured, you’re probably not going to be alone and we welcome you!

I'd like some Private lessons to build my confidence before I join a class, do you offer them?

Yes we do, we offer private lessons with our coaches, 7 days a week, ranging from £20 to £45 an hour. For more information, scroll to the bottom of this page. In order to book a private lesson please get in touch with us through social media, email or by phone and we'll pass your details onto the relevant coach, so that they can let you know their availability.

What is included in the membership fee?

Our membership fee includes attendance of all the classes shown on the timetable, other than the ‘Competition Team’ or ‘201’ classes (you will either need to be invited, or you will have demonstrated the skills necessary to train in these classes). The use of the weights and cardio area is for members that have this included in their membership, as either a ‘bolt on’, or as part of the Platinum or Gold packages.

Personal training, specialised courses and retail products are available at additional costs.

I don't want to fight or compete, can I still come along?

Of course! At Flo we try to cater for every type of member, so if you just want to keep fit, learn some new skills, or you’re just bored with lifting weights or running, we’re the perfect place. That said, if you were interested in competing, we’re also able to offer that as well. There is absolutely NO pressure for anyone to compete, that is totally down to you as individual.

Can my child join in?

Yes – we take children from as young as 3 years old. However, for our younger members, the classes are short and there is a heavy emphasis on enjoying the experience and learning through play. We split our children's classes into 3 ages ranges: ages 3-6 (Pee Wees), 7-11 (Juniors) and 12-15 (Teens).

I don't want to be tied in to a contract, what do you offer?

We totally understand that some people don't want to be tied into a contract and thats why we offer a number of different membership packages to suit all lifestyles, working patterns or training goals.

We also include a Pay As You Train option as well.

The shortest commitment period we require is 4 months. However, there are 12 month contracts available, as some people prefer to be tied for that period of time to encourage them to train, and in return we discount the price! If you're visiting the area, please see our membership options page for details of our daily, weekly and monthly visitor passes.

Please refer to our pricing plans for more details, or just get in touch if you have any other questions in relation to our pricing.

Do you just do classes?

No – as we are a full time facility, your membership entitles you to use everything included in your package at any time. Refer to our opening hours and timetables for more details on free ‘Open Mat’ times, where you can do bagwork, padwork, yoga, stretch, roll with a teammate (201 members) or do a private lesson with a coach.

What do I need to wear when I turn up?

Just turning up in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt will be fine for your free trial or first few classes. We do encourage you to buy your own equipment if this is something you decide you want to do for the longer term. However, we have enough equipment freely available to get you started!

Please just ensure there are no buckles or zips on your clothing or anything that may damage the mats or injure your training partners.

Please also ensure that if you’re grappling, your nails are short! Nobody likes to be scratched like crazy when they’re training!

Do you offer discounts for students, members of the armed forces  or the EMERGENCY services?

If you’re a student, a member of the Armed Forces or Emergency Services then we are happy to offer you a 10% (ten) percent discount on any membership package apart from the Pay As You Train option.

How do I pay for my membership at Flo?

You can choose to pay up front for the year and receive the discounts detailed on our pricing plan, or pay monthly by Direct Debit. Your joining fee is payable at reception by cash or by credit or debit card.

How can I work out the cost of joining a gym?

It's a simple formula. Ask yourself how many times a week you are going to visit the club, times by 4 and divide the monthly cost by that. There are no negative costs to making health and fitness part of your lifestyle. Don't forget to factor in all the benefits of membership!

You control the value of your gym membership, we make sure you enjoy it!
