Kenny Baker

Kenny Baker - Head Coach

Kenny Baker

Raised in a family with a love for boxing, Kenny grew up looking up to martial arts stars such as Jean Claude Van Damme and began training in Karate from an early age, up until he was 15 years old.

He later returned to training at the age of 19 having stumbled across footage of an early UFC event, where BJJ was used to dominate the tournament.

After this Kenny began to get into various different MMA disciplines and the early days of Vale Tudo. He began training two to three times a week under Karl Tanswell (SBG Manchester) and started learning ‘concepts’ over techniques. His training under Tanswell led to him eventually meeting UFC legend Gunnar Nelson, who he spars and trains with to this very day.

Kenny describes learning to lead with his mind over his heart as a profound eureka moment for himself.

Due to the conceptual training mindset, Kenny was able to achieve a brown belt in BJJ within a 3 year period, was awarded his black belt in 2012 by Braulio Estima and is presently a Gordo Europe 3 stripe black belt. He now hopes to pass on the knowledge that allowed him to transcend the belts so swiftly.
